How Ghostwriting Works
Once we’ve agreed to work together, I will interview you at length, by phone and/or in person, to gather enough information for your book and (if required) a book proposal to send to publishers.
All interviews are recorded and transcribed so that I can refer to them while writing. The interview process may take place once a day for two or three hours at a time, or over the course of a few days or weeks all at once, depending on your availability. Any written notes, diaries and other materials will speed up the process.
Once the interviews are done, I will carry out other preparations: reading articles, interviews and books; watching video and TV footage; listening to speeches or workshops; attending seminars or shows; interviewing family members, friends, and colleagues; any preparation necessary related to the book’s content.
When the initial research and preparation is complete, I will begin writing, which can take three to four months, sometimes longer. Most projects take five to six months total depending on the amount of preparation necessary and the availability of the client. I will write draft chapters and revise them with you and the editor of your publishing house, and only when you are happy with the final manuscript will it go to print.
I use my writing and business expertise to the best of my ability to ensure that my clients are satisfied with the finished result. I’m committed to working with my clients until they’re 100% happy with the final manuscript. I work with clients all over the world and I’m happy to travel to fit in with your schedule.
All contracts are signed with the assurance of strict confidentiality. Under no circumstances will I disclose any information about a client or the writer/client relationship unless I have been given permission to do so. I may request permission to list the work in my portfolio but will only do so with prior agreement. If clients prefer to maintain secrecy about the nature of the work, I respect that.
