Seriously, I feel the urge to study why some people feel the need to drag others down with their crap mood. A hater is someone who will downplay your snippet of good news, accuse you of boasting, act like it’s not a big deal, but if something fantastic happens to them they don’t stop yabbering on about it, and expect your undivided attention. What makes such people tick?
A hater, rather than compliment your new hairstyle, will look at you blankly and say they can’t see any difference. Will tell you that your new house is okay, but not their cup of tea, that your new dress is nice but a bit short for their liking (then turn up at a party wearing an even shorter dress). I’ve known some world class haters and I avoid them like the plague.
I have friends who have been the victim of haters too, celebrities and others who are slaughtered for their success on a daily basis. It’s not like achievement has come easy for them. In most cases, it took years of hard slog and sleepless nights, not to mention all the sacrifices by way of friendships, health, etc.
Who knows why some people begrudge others the fruits of their labour? I think it runs much deeper than jealousy or insecurity, but I’m not sure what it is, and 99% of the time I don’t give a toss.
Next time someone rains on your parade, be grateful that their dirty water will make the fruits of your success flourish even more!
